Correspondence regarding the 8th Robert A Welch Foundation Conference, Houston, Texas, 16-18 November, 1964. Crick delivered a lecture on 16 November with the title "The General Nature of the Genetic Code", subsequently published in conference Proceedings.
Crick wrote (18 January, 1965) to Dr W T Doherty, Vice President of the Foundation: "I found it very difficult to make a satisfactory paper from the transcript of what I said, and in many parts had to rewrite it completely. I have tried as far as possible to keep it at the level at which the talk was given, and not to make it too long...."
